Am I ready?

The anxiety has started.

I am unsure how to cope.

Don't get me wrong, I WANT to have this baby but how do you get excited about labor when your on your second child birth experience?
Consciously I am scared as hell.
I know and remember the pain I went through and I don't want to do it again.

I mean, who's idea was it to have a baby in the first place??
Certainly not mine...

It's the little things...

That really make me happy.

My mom used to open up a new jar of peanut butter then make a heart in it for me. I honestly thought that Jiffy peanut butter was made that way, up until I was old enough to figure out that wasn't the case.

{sniff sniff}

My adorable husband knows that story and always makes a heart for me in the new jar. I love it.

National Pie Day

Just as we recover from December's dessert fest, along comes National Pie Day. Tomorrow is this wonderful low key holiday and we should all celebrate with glee!!

Here is a favorite pie recipe of mine that I would to share with you.

Chocolate Fudge Pie
•1 pie crust, store bought or homemade fit into 9” pie plate
•6 oz (1 cup) semi sweet chocolate chips
•½ C (1 stick) butter (unsalted)
•3 large eggs
•1/8 tsp salt
•½ C plus 3 T sugar
•1 ½ C whipping cream
•Chocolate shavings

Heat oven to 375. Place the pie plate on a baking sheet. Prick pie crust with fork and line with foil. Fill to top with pie weights or dried beans. Bake until edges are firm, 20 to 25 minutes. Remove the foil and weights and bake until just golden, 7 to 10 minutes.

Reduce oven temp to 325. In a heatproof bowl set over (not in) a saucepan of simmering water, melt the chocolate and butter.
Using an electric mixer, beat the eggs, salt and ½ C of the sugar until fluffy, 4 to 5 minutes. Fold a third of the egg mixture into the chocolate mixture, then fold in the remainder.

Pour the combined mixture into the crust and bake until puffed and beginning to crack, 20 to 25 minutes. Cool for 1 hour, then chill in the refrigerator.

Beat the cream with the remaining sugar (3 T) until soft peaks form. Spread over the pie and sprinkle with shaved chocolate.

Its delicious! Thanks Karen, for giving me this fantastic chocolate pie recipe!!

P.S. Dont forget to leave a few of the chocolate morsels out to munch on!

...mmmm...

MIA

I have been slacking on the blog front. I apologize.

No baby yet although I hope its soon. I have been having contractions off and on and am very uncomfortable. I think its the stress that's causing them though.

There has been a lot going on with the family. My grandpa is very sick and in the hospital so I haven't really felt like {blogging} much these days.

Please keep him in your prayers.

Little Miss woke up while her daddy was getting ready for work.

He was tying his shoes and she was pretty impressed.

He took her through all the steps for properly tying shoes and when he was done she looked at him in amazment.

"Wow thats cool, daddy!"

I really do like cleaning...

What are your favorite cleaning products?

I am always on the lookout for the new and exciting products to use and since I am now in this crazy nesting faze I really need some new stuff that works!
My husband constantly laughs at me when a commercial comes on with a new cleaning product. I just sit there, in silence and stare at the television thinking to myself that 'YES, I will go buy it, first thing tomorrow!'
I love love love my Clorox Disinfecting Wipes.

I am dying to know what your favorite products are.

From dusting to dishes I want to know!!
Please don't make fun of me in comments...lets just chalk this insane cleaning thing to the pregnancy. If its still around after the baby is born, well then, you can laugh and make fun of me.

baby's room

Lila painted these canvases for her baby brother...

Here it is! 85% finished. I still have a little more to do, namely organizing! But the clothes are washed and hung, blankets are folded and ready to swaddle you with, diapers and wipes are ready to be used! Can you come already!??!

wordless wednesday - can't do the dishes!

I wash the dishes too much, I guess. Broke the faucet right off this morning!

Winter Formal fun

Oh to be young again...
My 14 year old neice Kelsie, who is a freshman, had her first high school dance this weekend. Her mom was out of town and was very dissapointed to miss her special evening. Kelsie asked me to help her with her hair before the dance. I was honored to be included!

Here are some silly pictures of her getting ready and me playing hairdresser. It was fun.

Crunch Time

It was a very traumatizing day today.

Lila got her pinkie finger closed in the car door.
Her daddy accidentally closed the door right as she was reaching in for my purse.
Horrified we ran into Target and ran it under cold water and then had a closer look. It was starting to swell and turn blue! Just a few minutes away was the hospital so we drove to urgent care thinking it was broken. After 2 hours of waiting, x rays and a 2 minute Dr consultation, she turned out fine and just has a broken blood vessel in her little finger. We were instructed to keep ice on it as much as possible and to give her Tylenol for the pain if needed. Better safe then sorry I guess!
It was a very traumatizing day today...for all of us!

ah, cute baby!

This is Lila holding her baby cousin, Emmie.
She was so thrilled to be holding her very first real baby!

And she did an amazing job.
I think she will be a fantastic Big Sister!
